Principal Researcher at IGEBA-CONICET | Argentina

Prof. Dr. Eduardo Antonio Rossello is a distinguished geologist recognized internationally for his pioneering work in structural, tectosedimentary, and economic geology, with profound influence across Latin America. Educated at the University of Buenos Aires, he has devoted his career to advancing geological sciences through teaching, research, and consultancy, notably in the fields of mining, petroleum exploration, and reservoir geology. His expertise lies in the identification, characterization, and interpretation of structural deformation and its economic implications for petroleum, mineral, and hydrogeological projects. As a senior researcher at CONICET and professor of geological sciences, he has made significant academic and scientific contributions to understanding geomechanical and tectonic processes controlling natural resources. Dr. Rossello has also served as an international consultant for numerous multinational organizations, offering specialized guidance on the structural and tectosedimentary aspects of exploration and production for leading companies such as YPF, Repsol, Petrobras, Pemex, and BHP, and has played a crucial role in the Guaraní Aquifer Project supported by the OAS and the World Bank. He has published more than 140 papers and book chapters and over 300 scientific communications that have enriched global knowledge on deformation, basin evolution, and analogue modelling. A passionate educator, he has delivered more than a hundred professional courses and has supervised numerous master’s and doctoral theses, fostering the development of future geoscientists. His extensive academic and consulting experience reflects an outstanding ability to bridge theoretical geology with industrial applications, enhancing both scientific understanding and practical resource management. In recognition of his enduring contributions to geological sciences, he was honored with the prestigious Horacio J. Harrington Prize in Structural Geology by the National Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences of Argentina, marking his legacy as a leader and innovator in applied geoscience.
